Software Pricing: Are We Doing It Wrong?
From the Coding Horror Blog
One of the side effects of using the iPhone App store so much is that it's started to fundamentally alter my perception of software pricing. So many excellent iPhone applications are either free, or no more than a few bucks at most. That's below the threshold of impulse purchase and squarely in no-brainer territory for anyth

E-books vs Real Books: What's the verdict?
From Will it Change You Blog credit: ginnerobot Like many other bloggers I’m a big fan of reading books. I’m also fairly involved in the online world, so I do a lot of online reading. While I subscribe to the theory that there’s nothing quite like the feel / smell / taste of a “real” book, I’ve also had times wher

Interesting Architecture: Art Deco
Seen on Lamespotting Fredericton Blog Many cities have great examples of Art Deco buildings in their downtowns. This one was the best that I could find. I considered NBPower building, but all those air conditioners in the windows ruin the look. I have no idea whether it’s authentic Art Deco, or a recreation, but it reminds me of an old [...]

August $50 giveaway
From Will it Change You Blog credit: Hamed Masoumi As the economic climate tightens, it’s natural to tighten our grasp on our own money and spending. It’s very liberating to find a place where you can let go of money-related anxiety and trust that things will work out. The concept of giving and receiving is not new, and one that has defin

From the blog of Tim Scammell Here's a nifty address to an interesting blog about the York Street Station and some costs that may be associated with its repairs. <br /><br />Thanks to Mr./Mrs./Ms./Miss (?) Lamespotting for sending it to me. For some reason I can't seem to insert links into my blogs so please just copy and paste the address t

Big Scar, Little Man
My GREAT nephew, Benjamin Fair, recently had a run-in with a sliding glass door. He lives in Mexico with his mom and dad, two brothers, and another sibling due any day now. The Fairs are a missionary family. Ben is the oldest at six years, so he has learned early how to lead by example [...]

The secret to 63 years of marriage
From Will it Change You Blog
credit: Hamed Masoumi
So I happened across an elderly couple recently, she was sick and he was fussing over her.
They were foreigners, I could tell from their accents, perhaps Czech.
I wondered (as I do from time to time) if they had been a couple for quite some time. Let me just note at this point [...]

Nobody Hates Software More Than Software Developers
From the Coding Horror Blog
A few months ago we bought a new digital camera, all the better to take pictures of our new spawned process. My wife, who was in charge of this purchase, dutifully unboxed the camera, installed the batteries, and began testing it out for the first time. Like so many electronic gadgets, it came bundled with a CD of software.
